Our Story
Founded in 2005, Ashton Pitt Ltd is a small family business based in the picturesque village of Askam-in-Furness, Cumbria, specialising in the art of designing and crafting mechanical puzzles for enthusiasts around the world.
For nearly 2 decades, our team has developed a range of highly engineered puzzles, from the acclaimed REVOMAZE series to the pioneering VAULTMAZE concept. Each puzzle is designed to intrigue, challenge, and inspire curiosity through tactile, hands-on discovery.
In February 2024, we transisiotned from Revo HQ to become The Puzzle Workshop, continuing our mission to create beautifully machined, thought-provoking puzzles that stand the test of time.
The Origins
Sometimes, the best ideas come from unexpected places — even a simple mistake.
Chris Pitt, a trained Electrical and Electronics Engineer, began his career designing precision tools during his apprenticeship. While crafting a plastic screwdriver handle, a small error in the cut sparked an idea that would eventually evolve into a completely new kind of puzzle.
That accidental moment of inspiration gave birth to the REVOMAZE — a cleverly hidden maze enclosed within a precision-engineered sleeve. What started as a creative side project soon became a full-time passion, and by 2008, Chris dedicated himself entirely to puzzle design.
Today, that original screwdriver handle sits proudly in our display cabinet, a lasting reminder that innovation often begins where we least expect it.
Our Products
Since our beginnings, the REVOMAZE collection has grown to over 20 unique designs, supported by a passionate global community of puzzlers. Our range continues to evolve with innovations like the VAULTMAZE, featuring 19 mazes split into 8 rings, and the chance to win the colossal SUPER GOLIATH (20-RING) puzzle.
In December 2023, we launched the REVOMAZE Lite — a lighter, more affordable version inspired by community feedback. Designed for all ages, it offers the same signature challenge in a compact, accessible form.
From our small workshop in Cumbria, we’ve proudly crafted and shipped over 50,000 puzzles worldwide, continuing our mission to inspire curiosity and creativity through every design.
